Tornado's : This is the tornado that hit Fritch, Texas on June 27, 1992. According to the US Weather Bureau it was an F4 tornado, 1 mile wide, destroyed/damaged 1360 homes, 7 injuries. The first three photo's are what I saw first, then the big one appeared over the horizon slightly to the north. It followed a west-to-east path, slightly arching towards the south. Had I given in to my first instinct (flee) I would have fled directly into its eventual path. The last four photos in this series are actually from just two exposures...Several years after taking them, I visited a 'Dangerous Weather' photo site on the internet. I learned that using 'Curves', etc in Photoshop can sometimes bring out hidden elements in weather photos. The 'enhancement' technique was effective only on the last two photos...perhaps the direction of the light, or possibly the tornado had finally passed over plowed ground and had sucked up a large quantity of soil...in this part of the world tornados frequently 'rain mud'.
